410 Addressing Grief in 2022

Rethinking Macro and Micro Grief

As clients continue to struggle with pandemic-related concerns, therapists are helping them address an accumulation of grief. People are grieving the loss of loved ones, structure, certainty, social gatherings, events—and even hugs. In this workshop, we’ll explore different kinds of grief and share strategies that can be used in the therapy room to help clients grieve fully and live fully, even in uncertain times. You’ll explore:

  • Micro- and macro-grief, and how to address them to create powerful shifts in therapy
  • Implementable tools to help your clients create connections and community, especially when loneliness and disconnection are compounded
  • Tips to help people navigate the rocky terrain of grief with any kind of profound loss
  • The collateral damage addiction and stressors can have on our everyday life when navigating grief

David Kessler, MA, RN, FACHE, is one of the world’s foremost experts on grief. He is the founder of Grief.com and author of six books, including Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief. He’s co-authored books with Elisabeth Kubler Ross, and Louise Hay.
