605 Rediscovering Wonder

Cultivating Awe for Health, Happiness, and Connection

What do you feel when you gaze up at the Milky Way, listen to an incredible piece of music, or witness an act of great courage? This feeling, often complete with goosebumps and a shiver down our spine, is known as awe. And as it turns out, this underappreciated emotion just might hold the key to a meaningful and fulfilling life. Over the last few years, researchers have begun to study awe, and have started to understand how the moments that make us go “wow!” can lastingly change our lives. In this workshop, participants will explore:

  • Why we experience awe, and why awe is a universal human emotion
  • How awe benefits us psychologically, improves emotional health, increases compassion, and strengthens relationships
  • How awe leads to improved physical health, reduces inflammation, and creates brain-based changes
  • Practical strategies for increasing awe in daily life
